Hora Hispana Ceases Publishing

The New York Daily News announced that it is closing down the Hora Hispana effective this Thursday, May 17th, 2012.  The Hora Hispana is a Spanish language publication, launched in 2004.  It has a distribution of 120,000 weekly.

Colorado Springs Independent Purchases Business Journal from Dolan Company

In a recent announcement, The Colorado Springs Independent owners will acquire the Colorado Springs Business Journal on June 1, 2012 from the Dolan Company, a national media company that owns 50+ publications across the U.S.

The new owners will also service Dolan's contract publishing of three local military newspapers:  the Fort Carson Mountaineer, Peterson (AFB) Space Observer and Schriever (AFB) Sentinel.    The Independent, an alternative media weekly product which has been locally owned since its' inception in 1993 will transition the paper to a stronger, local business presence over the next 90 days according to Independent Executive Editor Ralph Routon.

Northern Virginia Daily Will Eliminate Zoning

The Northern Virginia Daily (Strasberg, VA) will eliminate its preprint zoning for Tuesday through Saturday effective July 1st, 2012, per publisher Mike Gochenour.  Advertisers will only be able to run full run quantities, which is stated to be 14,200.

Catoosa Times Ceases Print Edition

The Catoosa Times, a weekly community paper in Oklahoma, has ceased its print publication, effective April 1st, 2012, per publisher Mike Brown.  The Times will now only be available online at www.catoosatimes.com

Greenfield Town Crier to Close

The Town Crier of Greenfield, Massachusetts, will cease publishing with its final edition May 11th, 2012.  The weekly shopper has been in business for 50+ years.
